I tried compiling it but it wouldn't work for me. Apparently the beta version will be more stable as this SDK is still in early stages.

It used to be managed by appcelerator (http://www.appcelerator.com/) but they ditched it in favour of their mobile offerings. It has since been picked up by the OS community and is (kinda) a mess right now. I'd wait a little while until they release 1.3, things should be better then. When it was built it to appcelerator's IDE (based on eclipse) it was incredible.
